“Langmere” was built in 1881 and contains a wealth of its original features from this period. Apparently, it was built either by or for German builders who had been brought over to construct the railway nearby. Hence the name “Langmere” which we think means “Long Lake”. The railway was being built specifically for Queen Victoria, to enable her to visit her beloved cousin the Empress Eugenie (wife of Napoleon III ). They lived in Camden Place, which is now a golf club/course. Needless to say, the road “Langmere” is built on was apparently part of Camden Place’s grounds. Part way down the road is a house set back behind a red wall and is meant to be the original station house to which Queen Victoria would presumably have arrived. With just five minutes walk you will come to the end of the road, where you will find The Bickley Arms and Chislehurst Caves. Chislehurst Common is about fifteen minutes walk away and is generally considered a bit of a gem too.It is near many local amenities:

• Chislehurst Golf Course (10 mins walk)
• Excellent state and private schools
• Post Office (5 mins walk in newsagents at end of road)
