| Details of property for sale |
Zeal Monachorum is a small, peaceful and pretty village surrounded by farmland in rural Mid-Devon. The village has many traditional cottages and sits on top of a hill some 7 miles to the North of Dartmoor. Its existence was noted in the Domesday Book of 1086, though it could have been occupied since settlement replaced hunter-gathering. Many footpaths lead through farms and woods and from the village there are some pretty good distant views over Dartmoor. The village, with a population of about 400, has an excellent community spirit. There is a church, St. Peter’s, at the top of the main street, and the Waie Inn, which is both a country pub and a leisure centre. There is a primary school, a doctor’s surgery and a small supermarket in the village of Bow, approximately 1.75 miles south of the village. There is a primary school, a post office, a petrol station and garage with a small supermarket in the village of Lapford, approximately 3.5 miles to the north, and the Tarka railway line, which runs between Exeter and Barnstaple, has a request stop at Morchard Road, approximately 2 miles to the east of the village.
Sheepleas was built about 1970, one of two matching bungalows built side by side. In 2003 all the external doors and windows were replaced by Everest Ltd, a FENSA certified installer, and therefore are compliant with sections 4 & 7 of the building regulations 2000. At the same time all the soffits, guttering, down pipes, fascias and bargeboards were replaced by Anglian Home Improvements. The whole plot measures approximately 45.3m in length by 22.7m in width.
